F-18 Hornet second-stage engine fan blade
Get your hands on a piece of aviation history with this authentic engine blade from the iconic F-18 Hornet! This genuine part belongs to the General Electric F404, the turbofan that powers the F/A-18 Hornet and has driven some of the most demanding fighter operations of the last four decades. It was recovered from retired Spanish Air Force F-18 components, having been withdrawn from service in 2015 after reaching the end of its certified service life.
At full power the F404 fan turns at well over 10,000 rpm, and every blade in it is classified as a flight-safety-critical part. This one still carries its original engraved markings: GE part number 6093T08P01 REV B and manufacturer code 99207. Those two numbers identify exactly which engine and which stage it was made for.
The curved airfoil, the machined root and the worn metal surface are all original. On a desk, a shelf or in a collection, it's an object with a real story behind it, and one that few people get to see up close.
